OK, OK, shameless self promotion time! Here is an RJ’s Fro shirt. These are selling a lot better than I expected and I’m actually on the verge of printing up another batch soon. Get yours today at the RJ’s Fro Shop or I’ll be dropping off some shirts to people at the Fan Fest on Saturday so if you want to save on some shipping shoot me an e-mail so we can arrange it. Keep in mind though I will not be selling these at the Fanfest. I am only dropping off the shirts to people who have already paid. I don’t want to piss off anyone at Petco Park.

I still have tons of items from my collection that I haven’t posted yet, but I thought it would be cool to see some items that other people might have in their collection too. Send me some pictures of any of your Padres related (including all the minor league teams of past and present) and any info you can about it and I’ll post some of the best on here.

Pad Squad Amanda is in 2nd place in the Monster.com’s Director of NFL Department of Fandemonium contest. I’ve been voting for her everyday (you can vote once a day) but I forgot to post it on the sites!! I even posted a Pad Squad jersey in the previous post….oh well better late than never. Hey everyone I just wanted to let you know that I started up a new Padres blog titled RJ’s Fro. The SDPads1 site is going to still be up but it won’t get updated. First off I’d like to apologize for the lack of updates. I’ve been working hard at getting a new blog up and running by the new year so I’ve been a little busy with that. But don’t worry though Padre merch fans….this blog here isn’t going anywhere yet the updates might not be as often as they once were for the time being.
Anyways on to the item, here is another gem from the 2003 Farewell to the Q season. A Famous Chicken Bobblehead…..well technically it’s not a bobble-HEAD but it’s more of a bobble-BELLY (according to the Chickens website). Very cool item here. The bobblebelly definitely fits the Chicken more than a bobblehead would (interesting side note: other Padres bobblebelly’s that were made and never released….John Kruk, Paul McAnulty, David “Boomer” Wells, Tony Gwynn & the most recent Heath Bell holding a Nintendo Wii controller bobblebelly). There is also something that makes this item stand out more than almost all the other stadium giveaways that I have listed too……the Padres actually won!! Adam Eaton threw 7 shutout innings & the 4 headed monster known only as Linethews Witafuerte (Scott Linebrink, Mike Mathews, Jay Witasick & Brandon Villafuerte) came in and shut the Rockies down for the final 2 innings. Mark Kotsay had a pinch hit, 2 RBI, double in the 8th to seal the deal. Padres win 5-0.

I just realized that I am quickly approaching 1,000 visitors here on this blog. Not to shabby for being a merch blog that has been around only a few short months. I’ll have to do something special here soon. Maybe a giveaway or something. Hmmm……..any ideas?

So my first go around with a Padres related blog (SDPads1) actually lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. I started it on a whim not thinking anyone would ever read it and then lots of people began reading it, I was mentioned in ESPN the magazine and even had some Padres front office personnel visiting it. Then a combination of being to busy, a tad lazy and quite frankly being stumped when it came to writing interesting topics effectively put an end to that site. It’s still up and listed on my links but I don’t update it often (if at all). Anyways as I set out on a new blogging adventure I was thinking of trying something different. There are 20 million websites, blogs & message boards that post links, have in game threads and crunch numbers like crazy so what could I do differently? As I sat there pondering I looked up at my shelf of my many many many Padres bobbleheads and various other Padres related items and I thought…..hey I’ve got tons of Padre crap that I’ve collected over the years why don’t I do a site dedicated to Padres crap (some people might call it “merchandise”). I am always frequenting the local Swap Meet, yard sales & the wonderful eBay for anything and everything I can find Padres related but this will not be only stuff I own as I will also be posting stuff that I find online as well that may catch my attention. Hopefully I stick with this site a bit longer than the last one…….wish me luck!
